Allahabad High Court Grants Final Opportunity to Muslim Side in Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Idgah Dispute

In a significant development in the Krishna Janmabhoomi and Shahi Idgah dispute of Mathura, the Allahabad High Court has given a final chance to the Muslim side to present its arguments regarding the maintainability of the civil suit. The next hearing is scheduled for June 4 at 2 PM.

The court emphasized the principle that “justice should not only be done but it should also be seen that justice has been done,” underscoring the importance of fairness and transparency in the proceedings. This was highlighted in the court’s order after the hearing on Friday.

Advocate Mahmood Pracha, representing the Shahi Idgah Mosque Committee, had filed application number A-53, claiming that he had not been given an adequate opportunity to present his arguments. In response, the court has now allowed Pracha to fully present his case via video conferencing to ensure that justice is comprehensively addressed.

Justice Mayank Kumar Jain, who is presiding over 18 petitions filed by the Hindu side, made it clear in the order that no further opportunities will be granted to the Muslim side beyond this point. The court’s decision to schedule the next hearing on June 4 at 2 PM is aimed at ensuring a conclusive resolution to the arguments concerning the suit’s maintainability.

The order from the recent hearing was uploaded today, providing all parties with the official documentation of the court’s directives. This follows the court’s earlier indication on Friday that it would reserve its decision after completing the hearing.

This ruling is a pivotal moment in the ongoing legal battle over the disputed site, which holds significant religious importance for both Hindus and Muslims. The outcome of the case could have far-reaching implications for the local community and broader interfaith relations.
