Pilibhit: Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav asserted on Friday that the BJP administration at the Centre revoked the three controversial agricultural laws after recognizing the strength of farmers. Addressing a gathering in support of party candidate Bhagwat Saran Gangwar, Yadav also emphasized that the people of Pilibhit are resolute in defeating the BJP, which is apprehensive. Yadav claimed that upon hearing the name Pilibhit, BJP supporters’ faces turn ‘peela’ (yellow). This marks Yadav’s first political rally in Uttar Pradesh since the commencement of the elections. The former chief minister also criticized the BJP government’s policies on electoral bonds and demonetization.
“Are electoral bonds and demonetization not tactics to launder black money into white?” he questioned. He contended that they successfully laundered all their black money into white.
Gangwar is pitted against Jitin Prasada of the BJP and Anis Ahmed of the BSP in this election. Prasada, a member of the Uttar Pradesh government’s cabinet, was nominated to replace current MP Varun Gandhi in the constituency.
As part of the INDIA coalition, the Samajwadi Party, Congress, and All India Trinamool Congress are contesting the Uttar Pradesh elections. Pilibhit, with over 18 lakh voters, will cast its votes in the first phase of the seven-phase Lok Sabha elections on April 19.
