Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya hit back at Akhilesh Yadav for his recent comment on Maurya, accusing the SP leader of becoming conceited and puffed up following his victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Amid concerns of a rift inside the Uttar Pradesh BJP following the party’s dismal performance in the LS polls compared to the 2014 and 2019 elections, Yadav had mocked the BJP leader, referring to him as a pawn and a password to Delhi’s WiFi.
Making a social media post on Saturday, Maurya accused Akhilesh Yadav of being Congress’s puppet. He further urged SP leader to remember party’s disastorous setback in state Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.

Lashing out on Akhilesh Yadav, BJP leader labelled him as Congress’ puppet and said that he was making imprudent comment in anticipation of failure in 2027 Assembly elections. Maurya claimed Yadav’s ego has ballooned due to his 2024 Lok Sabha victory, which he achieved through deceit, and reminded him of the SP’s losses in 2014, 2017, 2019, and 2022.
In the 2017 assembly elections, when Keshav Prasad Maurya was the BJP state president, the party and its allies won 325 of the state’s 403 seats, while the SP secured only 47. BJP was able to secure absolute majority in Lok Sabha polls of 2014 and 2019 along with Assembly polls of 2022 in UP.
