Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav defended party MLA Suresh Yadav after the latter reportedly referred to the BJP as a “Hindu terrorist organization.” Addressing the media, Akhilesh justified the remark by questioning the actions of those who “spread hatred” and conduct “fake encounters.”
“Those who spread hatred, conduct fake encounters, and do not work according to the law—tell me, is there another word for them?” Akhilesh said.
Akhilesh also took a jibe at the BJP’s ongoing excavation activities in Sambhal district. He remarked, “They will keep searching like this, and one day, by digging and digging, they will end up digging their own government.”
The excavation in question involved a team from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) unearthing a historic stepwell in the Chandausi area of Sambhal. District Magistrate Rajendra Pensiya confirmed the discovery, describing the “baoli” as covering 400 square meters and featuring multiple chambers.

“The structure has around four chambers with floors made of marble and bricks. The second and third floors are made of marble, while the upper floors are built from bricks,” Pensiya explained. He add that the stepwell is believe to date back over 150 years to the time of the grandfather of Bilari’s king.
The excavation after the reopening of a Shiv-Hanuman temple in Sambhal, which close for 46 years. Krishna Kumar Sonkar, Executive Officer of the Municipal Corporation, noted, “As soon as we learned there was a baoli here, we started the excavation work. We will continue as we uncover more.”
In a related development, an ASI team surveyed the Kalki Vishnu temple in Sambhal, inspecting five shrines and 19 wells in the area. The survey, lasting 8–10 hours, covered 24 locations. District Magistrate Pensiya stated that the findings from this extensive survey could offer further insights into the region’s historical significance.
The discoveries have drawn both attention and criticism, with political leaders like Akhilesh Yadav linking the excavation efforts to BJP’s governance strategies. Further developments await as the excavation work continues.
