Ahmedabad To Host Grand Celebration Honouring Pramukh Swami Maharaj Today; HM Amit Shah To Attend

Ahmedabad is set to witness a major spiritual and cultural gathering today as the ‘Pramukh Varni Amrut Mahotsav’ takes place at the Riverfront Event Centre.

The event commemorates the 104th birth anniversary of Pramukh Swami Maharaj and marks 75 years since his appointment as President of the BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, BAPS spiritual leader Mahant Swami Maharaj, and several other dignitaries will grace the occasion.

Organisers have anticipated an attendance of more than 40,000 devotees, who will arrive via coordinated bus arrangements, with dedicated parking and traffic support along the Riverfront.

Tributes Through Culture and River Spectacle

The evening programme, scheduled from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM, will feature a series of multimedia presentations and cultural segments highlighting Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s lifelong dedication to humanitarian service and spiritual leadership.

A key attraction will be thematic floats on the Sabarmati River, portraying his life, values, and global contributions.

Preparations for the celebration have been underway for the past two months, with organisers ensuring that both the visual and spiritual experience reflect his message of peace, compassion, and service to humanity.

Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s leadership began on 21 May 1950, when Shastriji Maharaj appointed the 28-year-old Shastri Narayanswarupdas as lifelong President of BAPS at Ambli Vali Pol in Shahpur.

From that moment, he became known as Pramukh Swami Maharaj and grew into a global spiritual figure, committed to serving his guru and the organisation selflessly.

Ambli Vali Pol remains a historic landmark for BAPS, hosting the organisation’s first Ahmedabad mandir in 1940, its first Gujarati magazine in 1938, and several important events that shaped the Sanstha’s worldwide expansion.

In the lead-up to the 75-year milestone, thousands of devotees have visited the site to honour his appointment and legacy.

Today’s gathering promises to be a grand homage to Pramukh Swami Maharaj, blending devotion, cultural expression, and spectacular visual storytelling on the Sabarmati. The event stands as a testament to his enduring impact on devotees and the wider global community.
