Located within the premises of Mataji Gaushala, the Barsana Biogas Project consists of three phases. Upon full commissioning, the plant will boast a total capacity of 600 tonnes per day (TPD) of feedstock, yielding over 42 tonnes per day of Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) and 217 tonnes per day of Organic Fertilizer. Phase 3 will see the plant reach its full design capacity, making it India’s largest agri-waste-based bio-CNG plant. The cumulative project cost for all three phases is estimated to exceed Rs 200 crore.
This marks ATBL’s inaugural CBG production facility, marking a significant milestone in its commitment to a sustainable future. Utilizing advanced anaerobic digestion technology, the plant converts organic matter into renewable biogas, thereby substantially curbing greenhouse gas emissions and reducing dependence on fossil fuels. It aligns with the nation’s objectives of enhancing fuel security and cutting emissions.
Speaking at the launch of the Barsana Biogas Project, Suresh P Mangalani, Executive Director & CEO of ATGL, expressed enthusiasm for contributing to sustainable energy production. He emphasized the plant’s role in providing a clean energy source for future generations, underscoring ATBL’s dedication to leveraging renewable resources for a more sustainable world. In addition to CBG production, the plant also generates high-quality organic fertilizers, adhering to circular economy principles and promoting agricultural sustainability.
