The Adani Group established Adani Airports Holdings Limited (AAHL) in 2019, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Adani Enterprises with a significant footprint in the aviation industry. Currently, AAHL manages major airports including those in Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Mangaluru, Jaipur, Guwahati, and Thiruvananthapuram.
The Adani Group will add the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) to AAHL’s portfolio in December 2024. As the country’s largest airport infrastructure company, AAHL currently handles 25% of India’s total passenger traffic and 33% of air cargo traffic.
On October 5, the Indian Air Force will conduct a trial landing of a fighter jet on the NMIA runway, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde in attendance. NMIA will begin operations in two phases and will accommodate up to 20 million passengers annually. The airport will feature connections to the Atal Setu and Metro Rail, with an estimated cost of around Rs 16,700 crore.
