It Does Not Violate The MCC: Acharya Satyendra Das On PM’s Proposed Meditation Visit To Kanyakumari

Ayodhya : Acharya Satyendra Das, head priest of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, responded to the controversy surrounding Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s intended travel to Kanyakumari for meditation on Thursday, stating that such spiritual endeavor does not breach the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). There is a legislation that defines what constitutes a violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC). However, visiting a temple and meditating for spiritual reasons does not violate the MCC.

The Election Commission understands this, as does the opposition. However, since it is about the PM, Das stated that it is the energy derived from meditation that allows him to win. Das said that the opposition, particularly the Congress, is aware of this and is doing all possible to prevent the Prime Minister from obtaining a third term.
PM Modi will visit the famed Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, from May 30 to June 1 to meditate following the conclusion of his Lok Sabha election campaign. In response to opposition leader Rahul Gandhi’s criticism, Acharya Satyendra Das stated that those who oppose the Prime Minister’s visit are misguided. Rahul Gandhi has begun to believe that he would win and become Prime Minister, but that is not the case.

The conclusion will be decided by the people of our country, who know which party and individual is actually concerned about our well-being. People understand where the nation’s interests lay. If the Prime Minister travels to Kanyakumari to meditate, it is not a breach of the MCC. Acharya Das stated that those who oppose this are misguided.

On his tour, Prime Minister will visit Rock Memorial and will meditate day and night at same spot where Swami Vivekananda practiced meditation, at Dhyan Mandapam from May 30 evening to June 1, evening. Kanyakumari is where Swami Vivekananda got his vision of Bharat Mata.

Swami Vivekananda’s life was significantly impacted by this rock. People think that, just as Sarnath occupies a particular position in the life of Gautam Buddha, so does this rock in the life of Swami Vivekananda. He landed here after roaming across the nation, mediated for three days, and achieved a vision for a developed India. According to folklore, Goddess Parvati meditated on one foot in the same location while waiting for Bhagwan Shiv.

This is the southernmost point in India. Furthermore, here is where India’s Eastern and Western coasts intersect. It also serves as the meeting place for the Indian Ocean, Bay of Bengal, and Arabian Sea. PM Modi’s visit to Kanyakumari sends a message of national togetherness. The Prime Minister is known to embark on spiritual trips at the end of election campaigns.

In accordance with this, he will travel to Kanyakumari on May 30 and stay there till June 1. He visited Kedarnath in 2019 and Shivaji’s Pratapgarh in 2014. The election for 543 Lok Sabha seats will be contested in seven stages beginning April 19. The votes will be counted on June 4.
