AAP Leader Atishi Admitted To LNJP Hospital Following The Hunger Strike

Amid the ongoing hunger strike to protest water crisis in Delhi, Delhi Water Minister Atishi’s health deteriorated. Atishi, who was on indefinite hunger strike, was admitted in Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital early in the morning as her heath declined severely.

Atishi’s blood sugar levels plummeted dangerously low, the doctors said. It reached 43 at midnight and then down to 36 by three in the morning. Experts in medicine suggested hospitalisation right away. Her weight and blood pressure also significantly decreased, indicating that her situation was becoming more dangerous. Elevating urine ketone levels also suggested a serious risk to her health.

By going on an indefinite hunger strike, Atishi is demanding Haryana to release Delhi’s share of water. On Monday, the fourth day of her fast, she was examined by LNJP physicians. Upon noticing her declining health, they suggested checking her into a hospital.

However, Delhi Water Minister Atishi Marlena decided to not to break her fast. Expressing her determination towards people of Delhi, she said, “Ensuring water for the people of Delhi is more important than my life. My fast will continue until the people of Delhi receive their rightful share of water.”

The leader of the Aam Aadmi Party began her hunger strike to demand that Delhi’s “rightful” share of water from Haryana be released.

The Delhi Water Minister has been fasting since June 21. The strike is to guarantee 2.8 million Delhi residents access to water from Haryana.
