The search for a new residence for Arvind Kejriwal, convener of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and former Chief Minister of Delhi, is underway following his resignation from the Chief Minister’s post on September 17. His release from jail on bail has spurred this process, especially after Atishi took over as the new Chief Minister.
Kejriwal is expected to vacate the Chief Minister’s residence after the Shraadh (Pitru Paksha) period, aligning with the start of Navratri.
While the exact date of his move remains unconfirmed, sources indicate he may transition to a new home during this festive period.
The team is focusing the search for a new house within Kejriwal’s New Delhi Assembly constituency.
In a notable show of support, numerous party MLAs, councillors, and ordinary citizens have offered their homes for his use, regardless of political or socio-economic backgrounds.

Kejriwal, who became Delhi’s Chief Minister in 2013, initially resided at Tilak Lane. In 2015, following a successful Assembly election campaign, he moved to the official Chief Minister’s residence at 6 Flag Staff Road in the Civil Lines area.
It is unclear whether the Central government will provide him with a new official residence. Speculation indicates that he might consider a location within the Lutyens’ Zone, but officials have not confirmed this.
Kejriwal lives with his wife, children, and elderly parents and is seeking a home that accommodates his family comfortably.
He has expressed his intention to return as Chief Minister only after winning the upcoming Assembly elections, for which AAP is advocating an earlier date than the scheduled February polls.
Kejriwal seeks what he calls a “certificate of honesty” from the people of Delhi before his return to office.
