A Lesson In Leadership: Amit Shah’s Tribute To PM Modi

Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday shared a heartfelt anecdote from his early political years in Gujarat.

In a video message posted on X under the account ‘My Modi Story’, Shah recounted a ‘sensitive lesson’ in party life that has stayed with him ever since.

Shah described a journey from Ahmedabad to Rajkot during which the then BJP functionary PM Modi stopped at a roadside dhaba run by one of their karyakartas (party workers).

It was around 8:30 PM, and everyone was looking forward to a full meal. However, PM Modi himself ate only fruits and wafers.

Shah later realised that PM Modi had not stopped for his own hunger, but so that the party workers could have a full meal first.

Putting Workers First

HM Shah said, “That day, I understood that PM Modi always puts karyakartas before himself. He never said it outright, but through such gestures, he taught us invaluable lessons.”

Amit Shah described how this habit of selflessness underpinned trust, a sense of belonging, and dedication in the party.

“Trust, belonging, and dedication are the soul of an organisation,” he said, asserting that these values are central to PM Modi’s leadership style.

Shah added that through humble actions, without fanfare or announcement, PM Modi models leadership.

“Many times, without saying a word, Modiji taught us what leadership truly means.”

These values, Shah said, continue to guide him and many others across the party.

Shah’s tribute arrives as PM Modi’s 75th birthday approaches on Wednesday. The BJP plans to observe the day with a series of welfare initiatives and outreach programmes across India.

The anecdote serves not only as a personal homage but as a reminder of the leadership ethos that the party wishes to promote, one rooted in humility, service, and regard for those who labour in the grassroots.

Through such stories, the party emphasises that leadership is not merely about holding power; it is about caring for and uplifting those who serve in its ranks.

As Amit Shah observes, PM Modi’s greatest teaching may well be that the well-being of party workers is always placed before personal comfort or recognition.
