A Delegation of The I.N.D.I.A , Including 20 MPs, Will Visit Manipur For Two Days

In an effort to assist in resolving the ethnic conflict that has engulfed the northeastern state since May 3, a delegation from the opposition Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), which includes 20 MPs, will begin a two-day visit to Manipur on Saturday. During the visit, the delegation will assess the situation on the ground and make recommendations to the government and Parliament.

A team of 20 MP’s will visit Manipur

On Sunday, the team, which includes representatives from at least 20 political parties, will pay visits to the valley and the hills as well as the governor of Manipur, Anusuiya Uikey. Some parties without MPs, according to opposition leaders, will send alternate delegates.

Congress MP and Rajya Sabha whip Naseer Hussain provided information about the non-Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alliance’s maiden trip to the state during a news conference at the AICC headquarters in Delhi. “The state administration has given us the go-ahead to tour the damaged districts and the relief camps. Additionally, the governor has given the delegation time on Sunday, so we have authorization to meet with him, Hussain said. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) have neither the will nor the ability to resolve the Manipur violence,” he continued.

Hussain’s remarks came as the Opposition and the Centre continued to lock horns over the former’s demands for a statement by Modi and a debate in both Houses of Parliament on the matter. The Centre has only agreed for a debate so far, prompting the Opposition to continue with their protests and disrupt the ongoing proceedings of the Monsoon session

Ethnic conflict has engulfed Manipur since May 3, particularly between the Kukis and the Meiteis. Over 50,000 people have been displaced, and there have been at least 150 fatalities.
Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, the leader of the Congress’s motion for a no-confidence vote in the government, and party MP Gaurav Gogoi are among those scheduled to travel to the northeastern state. Lalan Singh, the leader of the Janata Dal (United), Sushmita Dev, Kanimozhi, P Sandosh Kumar, Manoj Kumar Jha, Mahua Maji, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, Javed Ali Khan, Mohamad Faizal, and Sushil Gupta, the leader of the Aam Aadmi Party are among the others. Speaking to reporters, Hussain said: “Since there was a complete internet outage in the area, we believe that a lot of vital information relating to the violence is being withheld from us. Considering that the

Prime Minister is also not prepared to discuss it… INDIA parties have decided to send a delegation to the state to visit the relief camps in the valley and hill areas.”
Gogoi called for an inquiry under a retired Supreme Court judge into the violence.

“The BJP seeks to portray Manipur as a peaceful state, but this is untrue given the violence that has continued there. We want an investigation into how the state administration failed, under the supervision of a former Supreme Court judge, he told reporters outside Parliament. “There are more over 100 FIRs, as the chief minister (N Biren Singh) himself acknowledges. Why was the administration sleeping for two months? ? An all-India delegation will visit Manipur to learn the truth, after which they will present it to Parliament.

The BJP warned the opposition to stop escalating the situation in Manipur after taking note of their plans. In spite of the government’s expressed openness for a debate, opposition MPs, according to former Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, are agitating the atmosphere in Parliament by interfering with its business and “running away” from it. They want to incite similar tension in the state, but they had to be aware of its delicate nature, he said.
