One of the biggest fraudster in Odisha, Ramesh Swain, has been the target of a complaint filed by the Enforcement Directorate. It should be noted that the 66-year-old is accused of having 27 marriages. An official has stated that an investigation into Swain’s financial activities will take place. The agency may also ask for remand so that additional interrogation can take place.
The Odisha Police detained Ramesh Swain last year on suspicion of marrying 27 women in 10 states and defrauding them of lakhs of rupees. In the most recent incident in Odisha, the police had detained the driver, step-sister, Dr. Kamala Sethi, and the spouses of Swain. However, the High Court has granted bail to each of them.
The ED representative claims that the investigation agency is in contact with the state cops. Also being examined are the recovered papers. Swain was detained in 2011 for scamming Hyderabad residents out of Rs 2 crore in exchange for MBBS course places. He is accused of defrauding 13 Keralan institutions of Rs 1 crore in 2006.

After eight months of searching, Swain was apprehended on February 13 by a special police squad. A Delhi-based wife of his filed a lawsuit against him in May 2021. 2018 saw her connect with Swain via a matrimonial website. At the time, Swain had asserted that he was the Ministry of Health’s Deputy Director General.
According to reports, Swain maintained three wives at once in at least three rented homes he had in Bhubaneswar. This data has been provided by the police. His wives have admitted to the police that he frequently asked their wives for loans, and once he received the money, he would start looking for a new wife.
His wives included an assistant commandant of the ITBP, a chartered accountant from Chhattisgarh, a doctor from Assam, two Supreme Court and High Court attorneys, and a lady from the Kerala administration.
