60% of Terrorists Neutralized In J&K Were Pakistanis: Indian Army Chief

Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi revealed that 60% of the terrorists eliminated in Jammu and Kashmir in 2024 were of Pakistani origin. He shared these details during the annual press conference held at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi.

General Dwivedi highlighted the Army’s consistent efforts to secure sensitive borders and its mission to become a self-reliant, future-ready force aligned with the goal of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047.’

Addressing security in Jammu and Kashmir, he stated, “Over 80% of the terrorists still active in the valley and Jammu area are from Pakistan.” He also noted a positive shift in the region, citing peaceful elections and a record influx of five lakh pilgrims. “The theme of ‘terrorism to tourism’ is gradually taking shape,” he added.

Regarding the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China in Ladakh, General Dwivedi described the situation as ‘sensitive but stable.’ He outlined ongoing efforts to de-escalate tensions and restore traditional patrolling areas. Both sides have agreed to return to their original positions and are satisfied with the progress.

Turning to Manipur, the Army Chief acknowledged that while the region remains fragile, violence has been brought under control through coordinated efforts by security forces and the government. He assured that measures to ensure lasting peace are ongoing.

General Dwivedi’s remarks underscore the Indian Army’s resolve to address security challenges while contributing to national development and stability.
