15-Year-Old Boy Arrested In Punjab For Alleged Espionage Linked To Pakistan

Punjab Police have arrested a 15-year-old boy from Pathankot in Punjab for allegedly spying and sharing confidential information with Pakistan via social media.

The arrest has triggered a state-wide alert to identify similar espionage activities involving minors.

Officials stated that the boy, originally from Jammu’s Samba district, had reportedly sent critical information related to India to handlers linked with Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) over the past year.

Authorities also accuse him of transmitting photographs and details of sensitive military locations.

Police recovered chats and call records from his mobile during the investigation.

Senior Superintendent of Police Daljinder Singh Dhillon said intelligence revealed that the boy had been supplying information to ISI operatives and other terror organisations, so the police took him into custody.

Dhillon noted that suspicion over his father’s alleged murder made the boy emotionally vulnerable, and Pakistani agencies allegedly exploited him through social media.

“His mental state made him susceptible to manipulation by foreign handlers,” Dhillon added.

Following technical surveillance and analysis linking his communications to Pakistan-based handlers, police confirmed the minor’s involvement.

During questioning, authorities discovered that he was likely not acting alone. Officials suspect that ISI operatives may have targeted several other children for espionage activities.

As a precaution, police stations across Punjab have been alerted to monitor and identify other potential cases. Security agencies have expressed concern that foreign intelligence networks may increasingly attempt to recruit young individuals, posing a serious national security threat.

“The use of minors in espionage activities represents a disturbing trend that could have severe implications for the country’s security,” a senior Punjab Police officer warned.
