Gujarat Police resorted to firing teargas to disperse a crowd that had thrown stones at a “sobha yatra” (procession) of Lord Ram in Mehsana district on Sunday. The incident occurred in Kheralu town, ahead of the grand ‘Pran Pratishtha’ of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya scheduled for Monday.
As reported by the news agency PTI, Inspector General of Police Virendrasingh Yadav stated that three teargas shells were fired to bring the situation under control. The operation led to the apprehension of fifteen individuals. The police personnel accompanying “shobha yatra” took swift action to ensure the prevention of any escalation of the incident.
Fortunately, there were no reports of serious injuries resulting from the stone pelting, as confirmed by the Inspector General. The situation at the location is now peaceful, with heightened police patrolling in the area to maintain order.
