AIIA Strengthens Insurance And Research Integration To Boost Ayush Sector

The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) is working to enhance the integration of insurance and research within the Ayush sector, the Ministry of Ayush announced on Friday.

These efforts aim to broaden the accessibility of traditional medicine and advance holistic health through policy innovations and modern research approaches.

Prof Pradeep Kumar Prajapati, Director of AIIA, recently met Prof Bejon Kumar Misra. Misra is the Chairman of the Core Group of Experts for Insurance at the Ministry of Ayush, and the meeting focused on strategies for improving insurance coverage in the sector.

The discussions highlighted the role of the newly inaugurated Project Management Unit (PMU). The PMU was established by Union Minister of State for Ayush, Prataprao Jadhav, to oversee Ayush insurance-related matters at AIIA.

“The PMU will provide a timely and transparent environment for stakeholders, ensuring effective implementation of insurance schemes,” Prajapati stated. He further assured that AIIA would help the public access information and benefits under Ayush insurance programmes.

Collaborative Research and Academic Exchange

In addition, Prajapati held a meeting with Dr Sanjay Srivastava. He is the Vice Chancellor of Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies (MRIIRS), Faridabad.

The focus was on fostering collaborative research and academic exchanges to strengthen evidence-based practices in Ayurveda.

Prajapati said that AIIA actively fosters collaborations that bridge traditional wisdom with modern science. He added that strengthening research partnerships and policy frameworks, including insurance inclusion, will enhance the reach and credibility of Ayush systems.

The Ministry of Ayush recently marked the 10th National Ayurveda Day celebrations at AIIA, Goa, on September 23. The event highlighted the Ministry’s ongoing initiatives to promote Ayurveda as a holistic system of health and well-being, emphasising sustainability and natural living.

Through these initiatives, AIIA aims to create a comprehensive ecosystem for Ayurveda that integrates research, insurance, and public engagement. This approach reinforces its position within mainstream healthcare.
