PIB Flags Viral WhatsApp Message Promising Rs 46,715 As Fake

A viral WhatsApp message claiming that the Ministry of Finance is offering Rs 46,715 as financial assistance has been declared fake by the Press Information Bureau.

The message urges users to click on a link and share personal details to receive the money, raising serious concerns over data security and fraud.

According to PIB Fact Check, no such financial assistance scheme has been announced by the Ministry of Finance.

Officials clarified that the claim circulating on social media platforms is entirely false and intended to mislead people, particularly those seeking financial support.

The fraudulent message promises quick monetary benefits, making it appear attractive at first glance.

Authorities have stressed that such claims are classic examples of online scams that aim to extract sensitive personal information, including bank details and identity data.

Reiterating the government’s position, PIB advised citizens to rely only on official government websites. It also urged people to follow verified social media handles for information about welfare schemes.

It warned that clicking on unverified links or sharing personal details could lead to financial loss and identity theft.

Officials further urged people to report suspicious messages to the relevant authorities. They also encouraged spreading awareness among family members and friends, especially those who may be more vulnerable to such scams.

Highlighting the growing threat of digital fraud, the government has repeatedly advised the public to remain cautious. It has warned people against engaging with messages that promise easy money or benefits.

Authorities encourage users to verify claims through PIB Fact Check or official ministry announcements before taking any action.

The PIB’s clarification serves as a reminder that not all messages circulating on social media are genuine.

Staying informed and alert remains the most effective way to avoid falling victim to online scams.
