PIB Fact Check Refutes Viral Image Of PM Modi Photoshoot In Kerala

The Press Information Bureau Fact Check (PIB) unit has dismissed a widely circulated image alleging that Narendra Modi participated in a photoshoot during his recent visit to Kerala.

Officials confirmed that the image is artificially generated and clearly labelled it as ‘FAKE’.

Authorities stated unequivocally that no such photoshoot took place during the Prime Minister’s visit.

They advised citizens to verify content carefully before sharing, citing the growing misuse of synthetic media in political communication.

PM Modi travelled to Kerala in early April 2026 to campaign ahead of the Assembly elections scheduled for April 9.

During his visit, he conducted roadshows in Thrissur and Thiruvananthapuram. He also addressed public gatherings in Palakkad and Thiruvalla.

Investigators noted that the viral image appears to replicate or merge visuals from an unrelated setting.

It resembles imagery from an event at a tea estate in Assam, indicating deliberate digital manipulation using artificial intelligence tools.

The Fact Check unit emphasised that such fabricated visuals may mislead voters and distort public understanding, particularly during election periods. It reiterated the necessity of relying on authenticated sources.

Authorities continue to monitor misleading online content closely. They have underscored the importance of prompt intervention to safeguard electoral integrity.

This episode highlights the rising threat posed by AI-generated misinformation. It reinforces the need for heightened vigilance, digital awareness, and responsible information sharing among the public.
