PIB Fact Check Debunks Fake Claim On Kiren Rijiju, Arjun Ram Meghwal’s London Visit

Union Ministers Kiren Rijiju and Arjun Ram Meghwal are not visiting London with judges to attend a badminton event, the Press Information Bureau’s Fact Check unit clarified on Wednesday, dismissing viral social media claims as false.

Press Information Bureau stated on X that the circulating posts are incorrect and no such foreign visit has taken place. It confirmed that neither Minister is in London.

The fact-checking unit further clarified that people have misrepresented the photographs being widely shared online. It said officials took the images during the All India Judges’ Badminton Championship 2025 at Thyagaraj Stadium in New Delhi in November 2025.

Officials noted that several dignitaries attended the event, and social media users wrongly linked the visuals to a London visit.

PIB Fact Check urged citizens to avoid sharing unverified or misleading content and advised relying only on official sources for accurate information. It also encouraged users to report suspicious images, videos and messages related to the Central government for verification.

The unit also shared an earlier post by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, in which he highlighted his participation in the badminton championship at Thyagaraj Stadium in New Delhi and described sharing the court with senior judges and other dignitaries.

The clarification comes amid a rise in misleading social media posts, with PIB Fact Check regularly debunking false claims related to government officials and events.

Authorities reiterated that citizens should verify information before sharing it online to prevent the spread of misinformation.
