PIB Fact Check has warned the public about an AI-generated deepfake video that falsely portrays Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman promoting a fraudulent investment scheme.
The manipulated clip falsely claims that a Rs 20,000 investment can earn Rs 1,00,000 every day. It also claims investors can receive Rs 30,00,000 every month.
The official fact-check examined the video. It confirmed that the video is entirely fabricated. It clarified that neither Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman nor the Government of India has endorsed any such investment platform.

Authorities identified the clip as a classic ‘easy-money’ scam designed to deceive people into making fraudulent investments.
PIB Fact Check urged citizens to remain vigilant against cybercriminals using artificial intelligence and deepfake technology to impersonate public figures. It advised people not to trust videos or advertisements that promise unrealistic financial returns or claim official government backing without verification.
The agency also encouraged the public to verify suspicious claims through official government sources before making any financial decisions. It stressed that fraudsters increasingly use advanced digital manipulation to create convincing but fake promotional content aimed at misleading unsuspecting investors.
To help curb such scams, PIB Fact Check asked citizens to report misleading government-related content through its official fact-checking channels.
Prompt reporting can help authorities identify fraudulent material quickly and prevent further financial losses.
The advisory serves as a reminder to exercise caution while engaging with investment opportunities circulating on social media and messaging platforms.
Officials said genuine government announcements are issued only through authorised platforms. They urged people to stay alert against deepfake-based financial fraud.
