PIB Debunks AI-Generated Video Claiming PM Modi Promised Free Bikes On Aadhaar Cards

The Press Information Bureau’s (PIB) Fact Check unit has dismissed a viral video circulating on social media that falsely claims Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced free bikes for all citizens through their Aadhaar cards.

PIB Fact Check confirmed that someone had created the video showing PM Modi purportedly promising free bikes using AI technology.

In its official post on X, PIB Fact Check clarified that the Prime Minister has made no such announcement. The agency labelled the clip as ‘fake’ and warned citizens against believing or sharing such misleading content.

“A video circulating on social media shows Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that everyone will be given a free bike on their Aadhaar card,” the post read.

Public Advised to Stay Cautious Online

The government has urged citizens to remain vigilant and not fall for deceptive or sensational videos spreading online.

PIB urged people not to forward or share such content and emphasised that creators of false claims often use them to mislead the public.

The agency also encouraged users to verify information related to government schemes through authentic channels. Citizens can visit the official welfare schemes portal, myscheme.gov.in, for accurate and verified details.

PIB Fact Check invited the public to report any suspicious content related to the central government. Individuals can share questionable messages, videos, or posts via WhatsApp: +91 8799711259 or Email: factcheck@pib.gov.in.

The Fact Check team investigates such claims and provides verified information to curb misinformation on digital platforms.

This latest case adds to the growing list of AI-generated misinformation that has circulated in recent months. Authorities have actively warned users that deepfake videos and doctored media impersonate public figures and spread falsehoods.

By addressing the issue promptly, PIB reinforced its commitment to ensuring transparency and countering the spread of misleading content targeting government officials and citizens alike.
