MEA Fact Check Debunks Fake Evacuation Claims, AI Video On Rafale Jets

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has rejected a series of viral social media claims linked to India’s foreign policy and defence matters, describing them as fabricated attempts to spread misinformation.

In one clarification issued through its official fact-check handle, the Ministry denied reports claiming that India and the United Arab Emirates were discussing an evacuation arrangement for Indian nationals through Fujairah port.

The claim had gained attention after a media report suggested that both countries were preparing a mechanism to evacuate Indian workers during the ongoing West Asia tensions.

Refuting the report, the MEA stated that no evacuation plan existed and no such agreement or discussion had taken place.

The Ministry advised people to remain cautious about false and baseless information circulating online.

Separately, the MEA also issued an alert over a manipulated video falsely featuring official spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal.

According to the Ministry, the clip was generated using artificial intelligence and wrongly portrayed him making remarks regarding Rafale fighter jets and water-related issues connected to Pakistan.

The Ministry clarified that the spokesperson had never made those statements and described the video as part of a disinformation effort intended to mislead viewers on social media platforms.

The Press Information Bureau fact-check unit also examined the video and confirmed that someone had digitally altered it.

Officials said the original MEA briefing remains publicly available on authorised government platforms and contains no such remarks.

Authorities further indicated that several Pakistan-based propaganda accounts circulated the fake headlines and edited videos in an attempt to damage India’s international image.

The government has appealed to citizens to verify information through official sources and avoid sharing unverified content online.
