‘IITian Baba Is Dead?’ Viral Post Sparks Confusion; Here’s The Truth

A viral social media post claiming that ‘IITian Baba’ Abhay Singh Grewal has died has sparked confusion online. But is the claim true, or has his photograph been wrongly linked to an unrelated death? Here is what you need to know before believing or sharing the post.

The viral graphic reportedly uses Grewal’s photograph alongside a report about a death in Hisar, Haryana.

The person who died was Rahul Jain, a 35-year-old IIT Roorkee graduate. The two are different individuals, making the claim linking Grewal to the incident misleading.

What Happened in Hisar?

According to reports, Jain was found dead inside his bedroom at his residence in the PLA sector of Hisar on Sunday, October 11. His family members reportedly forced open the door after he failed to come out by around 10:00 AM.

Police recovered a methane gas cylinder from the room. Civil Lines police said a post-mortem examination was necessary to establish the cause of death.

The circumstances surrounding the incident remained under investigation.

Jain was reportedly married and had a two-year-old son. Family members reportedly told police that he had appeared distressed in recent days. These details do not, however, establish the cause of his death.

Is ‘IITian Baba’ Abhay Singh Grewal Dead?

The available reports do not confirm Grewal’s death. Instead, they identify Rahul Jain as the person who died in Hisar.

The viral graphic appears to have wrongly associated Grewal’s photograph with the incident. It remains unclear whether the mismatch was accidental or deliberate.

Fact-Check Verdict: Misleading

The claim that ‘IITian Baba’ Abhay Singh Grewal died in the Hisar incident is misleading.

The death report concerns Rahul Jain, a separate individual, and the cause of Jain’s death remained subject to the post-mortem examination and police investigation.
