Several Social Media platforms claim that Bollywood actress and Member of Parliament Kangana Ranaut revealed ‘major secrets’ about Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
However, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) has debunked multiple AI-generated videos circulating online, stressing that they are completely fabricated.
Other videos show manipulative, fake visuals of public figures that were not genuine.
For example, a fake visual of PM Modi endorsing an advertisement scheme for ‘QuantumAI’ and asking people to invest and Kangana Ranaut hugging Yogi Adityanath, was also bogus
The Press Information Bureau (PIB) of India has issued fact-checks stating that these kinds of videos are fake.
Videos are digitally altered or created by AI or deepfake tools.
Fact checkers confirmed that the original visuals are from 2021, when Kangana met the CM in Lucknow, but the hugging part was added via editing.
For the QuantumAI video specifically, PIB says PM Modi never asked people to invest in that platform.
Who exactly created some of these deepfake videos, and with what intent?
The scale of dissemination: how many people saw them and their social or political impact?
Whether there will be further investigations or not.
