Don’t Be Fooled! PIB Debunks Viral AI Video Of CRPF Personnel

The Press Information Bureau (PIB) Fact Check unit has exposed a viral video circulating on social media that falsely portrays a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel addressing a crowd during a nighttime gathering.

The government’s official fact-checking agency clarified that the clip is an AI-generated deepfake and does not feature any real CRPF personnel.

Officials issued the clarification after the manipulated content gained attention online and sparked concerns regarding the authenticity of the footage.

PIB Fact Check shared the alert through its official social media platform and tagged the Ministry of Defence while cautioning users against believing or forwarding unverified content.

The agency said advances in artificial intelligence have made it easier to create highly convincing visual content. It warned that such technology also increases the risk of misinformation.

According to the fact-checking unit, the video was digitally fabricated and falsely presented as genuine footage involving security personnel.

Authorities stressed that such manipulated content can mislead the public and create confusion regarding official institutions.

PIB Fact Check urged citizens to exercise caution while consuming defence-related information online. It advised users to verify sensitive content only through authorised government channels and credible official sources before sharing it further.

The agency also encouraged the public to report suspicious posts, videos and messages linked to government departments or security forces for prompt verification.

Officials reiterated that responsible digital behaviour remains essential in combating misinformation. They stressed the importance of timely fact-checking to curb the spread of misleading content. They also urged public vigilance to protect the credibility of official information shared across digital platforms.

Citizens have been urged to verify defence-related content through official sources and report suspicious misinformation for verification.
