With the biggest celebs joining the franchise, the YRF Spy Universe is quickly becoming the most popular IP in Indian cinema. Beginning in 2012, the universe has been on a path filled with box office successes, beginning with Ek Tha Tiger and continuing with Tiger Zinda Hai, War, and Pathaan, which went on to become the highest-grossing Hindi film of all time. With Alia Bhatt playing a female spy in Aditya Chopra’s upcoming big-budget action epic, the universe is about to get even bigger.

According to a person familiar with the situation, Alia Bhatt will be portrayed in a never-before-seen avatar in this as-yet-untitled actioner by Aditya Chopra and the team in an epic female-led spy movie that is expected to push her to the limit.
“The addition of Alia to the Spy Universe shows that Aditya Chopra is considering every possible audience group. The audience she caters to will find her portrayal of a spy in an overt action movie to be a huge novelty. The source continued, “It’s going to be Alia Bhatt like never before.
Alia Bhatt is thrilled to join the greatest IP in Indian cinema after years of establishing herself as one of Hindi cinema’s biggest crowd-pullers. Aditya Chopra is really optimistic about Alia and has grand ideas for her character arc in his universe. The source continued, “He is hoping to launch a series within the Spy Universe centred around Alia’s character and he will go to any lengths to mount the as-yet-untitled movie on a scale that none can imagine.
The untitled movie, which is now in pre-production and development, will begin shooting in 2024. After Ek Tha Tiger, Tiger Zinda Hai, War, Pathaan, Tiger 3, War 2, and Tiger vs. Pathaan, it is rumoured to be the eighth movie in the YRF Spy Universe. While War 2 with Hrithik Roshan, NTR Jr., and Kiara Advani is set to begin production in November, Tiger 3 with Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif is scheduled to debut this Diwali. Tiger vs. Pathaan, which stars Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, is set to begin production next year.
The YRF Spy Universe is prepared to grow to unfathomable proportions with as many as 4 flicks in the upcoming two years.
