Yash’s Toxic Faces Controversy Over Teaser Scenes Ahead Of Release

Actor Yash’s upcoming action entertainer, Toxic, has become embroiled in controversy weeks ahead of its theatrical debut.

While the teaser generated excitement among fans, it also drew criticism over specific visuals, prompting complaints from the Women’s Commission and a Christian organisation claiming that certain scenes offended religious sentiments.

Addressing the issue, Dr Jayamala, President of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce, appealed to the public not to judge the project solely on a promotional clip.

She said a teaser merely offers a brief preview intended to attract audiences, and added that critics should wait for the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to review the film before debating its content.

Dr Jayamala also stressed that filmmakers invest substantial financial resources in their projects and deserve a fair assessment of the complete film.

According to her, the producers have refuted allegations of obscenity or disrespect and will respond to concerns through the appropriate regulatory channels.

The uproar followed the release of footage depicting an intimate sequence inside a car stationed near a cemetery, which transitions into a violent shootout within the burial grounds.

Reports indicate that the setting includes religious symbols such as a statue of Archangel Michael.

The National Christian Federation submitted formal representations to the Film Chamber, senior state officials and the CBFC, while a separate complaint alleged that the scene compromised the dignity of women.

Helmed by Geethu Mohandas, Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups features Rukmini Vasanth, Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi, Akshay Oberoi and Sudev Nair in prominent roles.

The film is slated for release on 19 March and will compete at the box office with Dhurandhar 2, starring Ranveer Singh.
