Who Was Neem Karoli Baba? ‘Hanuman Ansh’ Brings His Spiritual Journey To The Big Screen

The Hindi feature film Hanuman Ansh brings the spiritual journey and teachings of Neem Karoli Baba to the big screen.

The film draws from the revered saint’s devotion to Lord Hanuman, his faith and his lifelong commitment to selfless service. It released across Indian cinemas on August 7, 2026.

The story follows a young seeker who searches for Lord Ram and gradually embraces faith and seva. His journey eventually leads him towards becoming Neem Karoli Baba, the barefoot saint remembered as Maharaj-ji.

The film presents spirituality as a lived experience rather than a conventional lecture or straightforward historical account.

The narrative places bhakti, compassion, kindness and service at its heart. It explores why Neem Karoli Baba continues to inspire people across generations and countries. His influence reached global figures including Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg, Julia Roberts and Krishna Das.

Producer Anupriya A Nagar undertook extensive research before developing the project. She met families and people who had known the saint to understand his life and spiritual path.

Nagar completed 43 days of continuous Hanuman Chalisa recitation before production began.

The film features 10 original devotional songs and mantras. It uses bhajan and kirtan traditions to present Baba’s teachings and connect them with contemporary audiences.

The story centres on Kainchi Dham, the Uttarakhand ashram associated with Neem Karoli Baba.

The makers aim to introduce his values of love, humility and seva to younger viewers while preserving the spiritual essence of his journey.
