Vivek Agnihotri and Anurag Kashyap.
A Twitter war erupted between filmmakers Vivek Agnihotri and Anurag Kashyap on the social media platform on Wednesday after the former expressed his dissenting view over Anurag Kashyap’s statement in an interview.
The Kashmir Films Director Vivek Agnihotri took to Twitter and shared a screenshot of Anurag Kashyap’s print interview where he has said “Films like Kantara and Pushpa are destroying the industry: Anurag Kashyap.”
In his post with the screenshot Vivek wrote, “I totally totally totally disagree with the views of Bollywood*s one & only Milord. Do you agree?.”
This started the fireworks online between the two Bollywood directors. Anurag Kashyap retorting to the tweet wrote, “Sir aapki galti nahin hai, aap ki filmon ki research bhi aisi hi hoti hai jaise aapki mere conversations pe tweet hai. Aapka aur aapki media ka bhi same haal hai. Koi nahin next time thoda serious research kar lena ..”
*The Kashmir Files* director responded with “Bholenath, aap lage haath sabit kar hi do ki #TheKashmirFiles ka 4 saal ka research sab jhooth tha. Girija Tikoo, BK Ganju, Airforce killing, Nadimarg sab jhooth tha. 700 Panditon ke video sab jhooth the. Hindu kabhi mare hi nahin. Aap prove kar do, DOBAARA aisi galti nahin hogi.”
This Twitter war has divided social media into two camps with each supporting their favourite director and his views. The replies kept coming from Twitter users and it has snowballed into a big Twitter divide.
Vivek Agnihotri’s upcoming film “The Vaccine War” is set for a 2023 Independence Day release. The film is apparently based on India’s contribution to produce a Covid-19 vaccine against all odds. It is the unsung tale of India’s scientists who fought with limited resources against the world’s medical giants and won. India made the fastest and safest vaccine. The Vaccine War is about the war that India won but did not know it fought.
Anurag’s most recent release ‘Dobaara’ starring Taapsee Pannu did not do so well at the box office.
