Twitter users are calling Shah Rukh Khan’s Dunki teaser “disaster” and his accent “forced”

Tuesday saw the premiere of the Dunki teaser starring Shah Rukh Khan, however it appears that not many people online are happy with it. Rajkumar Hirani and Shah Rukh Khan had worked together on a film before, Dunki. Following the release of the trailer, a lot of people reacted to the three-minute Drop 4 on social media. Many called the Punjabi accent “forced” and the whole effect “boring.”

Reactions on Dunki trailer

On X (formerly Twitter), a user commented on the trailer, calling it “boring.” Plot is nothing new; the subject has been explored in numerous Punjabi movies. Accents irritate me so much. I don’t see why Punjabi and Hindi should be combined. It sounds not at all humorous. Just stay with Hindi. “The less I say about the trailer, the better,” another person commented. The dialogue is flat, the Punjabi accent sounds forced, and I find it difficult to empathize with the story. Moreover, the ageing of Shah Rukh Khan, be it in ‘Jawan’ or this, is laughably absurd. I think this is the weakest Hirani movie I can remember. Call for my head, if you please. Salutations.”

Regarding Shah Rukh’s aging

Many others criticized Shah Rukh Khan for appearing older in the movie. “Why do people always blame Balayya and Chiranjeevi for playing young characters when #SRK is the real culprit?” questioned one commenter. Take note of how much VFX is on his face.” “I must admit, this trailer is quite unimpressive. From an editing standpoint, a little scattered. Cannot serve as a justification given the history of Hirani trailers. The way SRK delivers it sounds really awkward. Even more distracting is the aging process!” penned an additional.

A number of users also mentioned how much was already shown in the trailer. “The voice barotone was iffy,” one person remarked. Trailer ruined a lot of the film and removed surprises: the burial of a character, Old SRK. The action sequences in this film give me the impression that it may veer off course and lose its main plot, much like Zero.” “Well, it feels basic & not really pushing me to want to watch it in a hall,” was another review. However, I had the same feelings for “P.K.”, and it was an amazing experience.

Favorable responses

Some admirers praised Shah Rukh in the teaser and stated that they thought the movie would be fun. A post stated, “SRK’s Dunki looks like a hatrick is on the way sir #DunkiTrailer is comedy and heart all at once!” Another said: “It’s just pure joy—no maar-dhaad! There’s no doubt that #DunkiTrailer will provide a welcome diversion from the norm. “Everything is provided on a single platter in this movie. Total Entertainer!” exclaimed a different fan.

Dunki is described as a “warm and heartfelt story about four friends and their journey to foreign lands, detailing the challenging yet transformative journey they are about to embark on to fulfill their aspirations.” On December 21, in honor of Christmas, it is scheduled to open in theaters.
