Movie based on the life of Punjabi musician Amar Singh Chamkila is soon to be released and its teaser is out now for the viewers. For the first time, Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra will collaborate for the Imtiaz Ali directorial ‘Chamkila’. In the movie, Diljit will portray Punjab’s best-selling recording artist, Amar Singh Chamkila, and Parineeti will portray his wife, Amarjot Kaur.
The murder of Amar Singh Chamkila, who was 27 years old, will be the subject of the movie. According to reports, he was killed in Mehsampur, Punjab, just before his performance. The teaser opens with a crowd in front of the stage as Chamkila enters. The actor has taken off his turban for the first time.
Diljit has a really unique and uncommon appearance in the movie where he is seen clutching Ektara. “The name that has been engraved in your mind and heart for years is now disclosed to you”, Diljit wrote in his post sharing the teaser. Amar Singh, the best-selling musician from Punjab, has an unknown tale that will be featured on Netflix soon.
Netizens were observed responding to Diljit’s appearance shortly after the teaser was released on social media. Some people even believed that Sidhu Moosewala, a murder victim in 2022, was the inspiration for the movie. “Oh God!” wrote one user. “The next movie will be based on the legend of the Punjabi music industry, Sidhu Musewala,” another person remarked.
“It has been a pleasure working with Parineeti and the entire team, who have put in a lot of effort to bring this wonderful story to life”, said Diljit about the movie in a statement. “The song’s excellent music is by Rahman. A contemplative experience and I hope I can convey his vision accurately. I appreciate Imtiaz Bhaiji’s confidence in me for this role.”
While AR Rahman provided the music for the movie, Parineeti also sang a few of the songs with Diljit. Parineeti expressed her delight at the opportunity to contribute her voice, saying, “It is a privilege to play Amarjot, Chamkila’s singing partner and wife, in this incredible film, and I am really grateful to Imtiaz sir for this opportunity.” The experience of watching Diljit on the screen has been great. Being able to work with the legendary AR Rahman has long been a dream of mine because singing is my love.
