The joyous atmosphere of Taylor Swift’s triumphant Sydney concert was overshadowed by concerning reports involving her father, Scott Swift. Allegations have emerged suggesting that Scott was involved in a physical altercation with an Australian paparazzi photographer following the show. The incident, unfolding on Sydney’s bustling streets, has prompted authorities to launch an investigation into potential assault charges. Here’s what transpired:
Taylor Swift wrapped up her Sydney performance as part of the Era’s tour before heading to Singapore for her next show. After the successful conclusion of the concert, Taylor and her father were spotted in high spirits. However, the NSW Police Force confirmed to Page Six on Monday that they had commenced an investigation after Scott allegedly assaulted 51-year-old Ben McDonald at a ferry wharf in Sydney’s North Shore.
The altercation reportedly took place at 2:30 am on Tuesday. According to the Australian photographer involved, Taylor and Scott were seen enjoying a late-night celebration. The photographer claims that Scott “charged” at him after both father and daughter disembarked from their luxury superyacht earlier that evening.
“He got off the boat, approached the security guards who were holding umbrellas in front of us, and then he charged,” McDonald told Daily Mail. “He probably felt the need to protect his daughter, for some reason,” he added.
McDonald alleges that Scott struck him on the left side of the face, causing significant discomfort. He maintains that he did not provoke Scott in any way. Police stated that McDonald, aged 51, did not require medical assistance. Swift, along with her team and father, reportedly celebrated the conclusion of the Australian leg of the Eras Tour on the Harbour. After Tuesday’s performance, they boarded the luxurious superyacht Quantum from the Homebush concert venue to the harbor.
Taylor Swift was observed exiting under the cover of an umbrella. A representative for the “Cruel Summer” singer informed the outlet that “two individuals were aggressively pushing their way towards Taylor, grabbing at her security personnel, and threatening to throw a female staff member into the water.” Images from the dock captured the 14-time Grammy winner walking under a black umbrella, accompanied by someone, before being approached by the awaiting paparazzi.
