Taylor Swift
Billboard said Monday, following the release of ‘Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)’, Taylor Swift now has more number-one albums than any other female artist in history.
The album debuted at the top of the Billboard charts, earning the pop queen’s 12th number-one album and surpassing Barbra Streisand’s record.
For male musicians, Jay-Z and the Beatles each have over a dozen number-one albums, though Billboard adds that its album ranking system has evolved over the years to include anthologies.
According to the organization, Swift, 33, is also the first living artist over 60 years to have four albums in the top 10 at the same time.
‘Midnights’, ‘Lover’, and ‘Folklore’ are among them.
According to Billboard, Swift has also become the first living artist to have 11 albums in the top 200 at the same time.
Swift’s record-breaking accomplishments come as she performs many of her best hits on the fan-frenzied ‘Eras’ tour.
The 106-date stadium concert series began in March and is on its way to becoming the first billion-dollar tour.
‘Speak Now’ was first released in 2010. Swift has pledged to re-record her first six albums in order to gain control of their rights — a process she was contractually permitted to begin in November 2020.
She has also redone ‘Fearless’ and ‘Red’.
Swift became the first artist in history to hold all ten 10 spots on the top US song chart at the same time last October, with the release of her tenth studio album ‘Midnights’.
