Sonam Kapoor Sends Legal Notice To YouTuber Over Satirical Remarks

Actress Sonam Kapoor has taken legal action by sending a notice to a YouTuber who poked fun at her comments in one of her videos. The legal notice emphasized that the video, posted by content creator Raginyy, had a negative impact on the reputation of Ms. Kapoor, her husband Anand Ahuja, and their fashion brands.

Sonam Kapoor, known for her role in the movie ‘Aisha’, has partnered with legal experts to actively address defamatory comments, online harassment, and unfavorable reviews on the internet.

Raginyy shared the legal notice on her Instagram and YouTube accounts with the caption, “She who must not be named.” The notice stated, “The reported fake post is illegally uploaded content belonging to our client, Ms. Sonam Kapoor Ahuja,” in reference to the video in which she had roasted Sonam Kapoor. It went on to say, “These actions are not authorized by our clients. Kindly delete the reported link and ensure that you do not allow your platform to be used for the mentioned activities.”

The notice also warned the YouTuber that if she fails to comply with the request, Sonam Kapoor may take “necessary action to safeguard her reputation.”

Raginyy clarified that the video that allegedly prompted the legal notice was about statements made by Sonam Kapoor at public events. She mentioned that she had defended Sonam more than she had insulted her in the video, emphasizing that it’s common for people to make foolish statements at times.

At the time of receiving the notice, Raginyy had 6,000 subscribers on YouTube and expressed concerns about lacking the resources and time to contend with such a notice from an influential person.

Following the news of the legal notice, several people on social media criticized the actress, asserting that there was nothing “offensive” in the roast video.

Sonam Kapoor recently represented India at the UK-India Week 2023 and was invited to the prestigious event by UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. On the acting front, she made her digital debut in the movie ‘Blind’, which aimed to shed light on the life of a visually impaired individual and provide a platform for marginalized voices.
