Somy Ali, the former Bollywood actress and dedicated social worker, has candidly shared her feelings about her past relationship with superstar Salman Khan.
She called the label of ‘Salman’s ex-girlfriend’ a significant burden in her life.
In an exclusive interview with IANS, Somy Ali discussed her experiences in the film industry, her humanitarian work, and her thoughts on the entertainment world’s ongoing fascination with her past.
Reflecting on the challenges of her association with Salman Khan, Ali said, “It is the biggest curse for me. I have done such good work in America and achieved so much, still, people identify me as Salman’s ex-girlfriend.”
“Salman Khan will be turning 59 or 60 this December, still behaves like a playground or high school bully, harassing others due to his insecurities. He keeps telling people not to talk to me,” she further added.
In her conversation, Somy also touched upon her friendship with actress Manisha Koirala. She recounted a surprising moment when Koirala reached out to her concerning rumors about her health.
“Manisha told me that someone had informed her I had cancer. I was shocked. I said: ‘No, what are you saying? I wanted to reach out to you because we hadn’t been in touch for so long. In fact, I had no idea about your cancer,” Ali revealed.
Discussing her relationship with Khan, Ali described a recurring pattern she observed in his relationships, asserting, “Salman has a pattern — the seven-year itch. Women usually stay with him for seven years before discovering his true self. Interestingly, he never ends relationships; the girl always walks away. It takes her seven years to figure out what he truly is.”
Somy Ali also revealed that she distanced herself from the Indian film industry for a significant period.
“Whenever I thought of Indian cinema, it reminded me of Salman, filling me with sadness and depression,” she confessed.
