Shah Rukh Khan’s recent visit to Qatar for the AFC finale match stirred up speculation following the subsequent release of seven Indian naval officers who were facing death row on spying charges in the country. Some reports suggested a connection between Khan’s visit and the release, but the superstar has swiftly quashed such rumors through an official statement.
Issued by both Shah Rukh Khan’s office and his manager Pooja Dadlani via her official Instagram handle, the statement firmly denies any involvement of the actor in the diplomatic proceedings between Qatar and India. It emphasizes that the decision to release the naval officers was solely orchestrated by the respective government authorities and categorically excludes Khan’s participation.
The statement reads, “Regarding the reports linking Shah Rukh Khan to the release of India’s naval officers in Qatar, his office asserts that any claims of his involvement are baseless. The successful resolution of this matter was orchestrated entirely by Indian government officials, and Shah Rukh Khan had no role in it.”
It further states, “Diplomatic affairs are best handled by our competent leaders. Mr. Khan, like many other Indians, is pleased that the naval officers are now safe and back home, and he wishes them the very best.”
Shah Rukh Khan’s trip to Qatar primarily centered around his passion for sports, as he attended the highly anticipated AFC finale match. During his visit, he also engaged in discussions with Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani and met with FIFA president Gianni Infantino, generating buzz on social media with viral photos and videos.
