Renowned ‘Dhoom’ Director Sanjay Gadhvi Passes Away at 56; Family Suspects Heart Attack

Renowned Bollywood director Sanjay Gadhvi, celebrated for his directorial contributions to blockbuster films such as Dhoom (2004) and Dhoom 2 (2006), has tragically passed away. The news has been confirmed by his daughter, Sanjina Gadhvi, though the exact cause of his sudden demise remains uncertain.

At 56 years old, with his 57th birthday just days away, Sanjay was reportedly in good health, according to his daughter. Survived by his wife, Gina, and two daughters, Sanjina being the elder, the family is grappling with the unexpected loss.

Sanjina Gadhvi, speaking to a news agency, shared, “He passed away at 9.30 am this morning at his residence. We are not sure what it is, but it is most likely a heart attack. He wasn’t unwell, he was perfectly healthy.”

Reports indicate that Sanjay Gadhvi experienced chest pain during his morning walk on the Lokhandwala Backroad. Sweating continuously, he was swiftly taken to Kokilaben Ambani Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The suspicion is that he suffered a heart attack during his routine exercise. His funeral is scheduled for the late evening of November 19.

The director’s cinematic journey began with the Bollywood film Tere Liye, and he later undertook directorial roles under the Yash Raj Films banner. Preceding his blockbuster Dhoom series, he achieved success with Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai in 2002. Post Dhoom 2, he directed Kidnap in 2008, featuring Sanjay Dutt, Imran Khan, and Minissha Lamba. In 2012, he directed Ajab Gazabb Love starring Arjun Rampal, and in 2020, he crafted Operation Parindey with Amit Sadh and Rahul Dev. Sanjay Gadhvi’s untimely demise leaves a void in the Bollywood industry, marking the end of a prolific filmmaking career.
