Ranveer Singh Visits Chamundeshwari Temple Following Kantara Controversy

Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh travelled to the Chamundeshwari Temple situated atop Chamundi Hills in Mysuru on Tuesday to offer prayers to Goddess Chamundeshwari.

The visit formed part of the resolution process linked to the controversy. The issue stemmed from his alleged imitation of a sacred ‘daiva’ figure.

During the visit, the actor entered the sanctum sanctorum and carried out a special puja.

Sources indicated that Ranveer Singh observed certain vows and offered prayers seeking forgiveness from the deity.

Images and video clips from the rituals quickly gained traction across social media platforms.

The controversy originated at an international film festival hosted in Goa, where Ranveer Singh shared the stage with Rishab Shetty.

During a public interaction, Singh allegedly imitated a revered character associated with Kantara, and several viewers perceived the act as disrespectful.

Accounts suggested that the act continued even after objections were raised, triggering criticism from sections of the public and devotees.

Although Singh apologised soon after, the issue proceeded to legal scrutiny.

A petition later reached the Karnataka High Court, which reportedly remarked that the behaviour was inappropriate. The court eventually quashed the FIR after Singh submitted a formal apology.

As part of the settlement, the court instructed Ranveer Singh to visit the Chamundeshwari Temple within a stipulated period and offer prayers.

With this visit now completed, the actor has fulfilled the directive and closed the matter.

The episode has coincided with reports of strained professional ties between Singh and filmmaker Farhan Akhtar regarding developments in Don 3, a franchise earlier led by Shah Rukh Khan.

Additionally, speculation about an informal industry backlash has circulated, though no official statements have confirmed such claims.

The temple visit reflects Singh’s effort to address the controversy and move forward professionally.
