To mark the first day of Navratri, the team behind ‘Mardaani 3’ released a new poster hinting at an epic clash between good and evil.
Yash Raj Films took to Instagram on Monday to share the poster, which features a close-up of Rani Mukerji’s hand gripping a black handgun, pointed downward.
The backdrop, deliberately blurred, however, reveals a yellow police barricade with the words ‘DELHI POLICE’ clearly visible.
Accompanying the image, the caption read, “On the auspicious Day 1 of Navratri, here’s to celebrating the victory of good over evil. #RaniMukerji returns as top cop Shivani Shivaji Roy in Mardaani 3 to investigate the most challenging case of her career. #Mardaani3 in cinemas 27th February, 2026. @abhiraj88 #AdityaChopra”
Helmed by director Abhiraj Minawala, the film is likely for release on 27 February 2026.
Produced by Yash Raj Films, ‘Mardaani’ remains the biggest solo female-led franchise in Hindi cinema, launched 11 years ago.
Since its inception, the series has been widely praised for its gripping storytelling and has earned a dedicated fan following, achieving cult status among movie enthusiasts.
In ‘Mardaani 3’, Rani Mukerji will reprise her role as the fearless Shivani Shivaji Roy, a cop committed to seeking justice against formidable adversaries.
Rani had previously described the film as an ‘edge-of-the-seat thriller’ that is ‘dark, deadly and brutal’, sparking immense curiosity among fans and netizens alike.
Pradeep Sarkar directed the first ‘Mardaani’, which released in 2014. Gopi Puthran, who had scripted the original film, wrote and directed the second instalment, released in 2019.”
While the debut ‘Mardaani’ explored human trafficking, ‘Mardaani 2’ delved into the psyche of a psychopath, rapist, and murderer.
The franchise has, however, consistently portrayed terrifying antagonists, only to have them challenged and ultimately defeated by Shivani, symbolising the triumph of good over evil.
