Superstar Rajinikanth, who has been hospitalized in Chennai, is set to be discharged on Friday, according to his doctors.
Rajinikanth was admitted to Apollo Hospital on Monday due to swelling in a blood vessel connected to his heart. The hospital reported that he underwent a non-surgical transcatheter procedure for treatment.
Initially, the hospital indicated that he would be discharged on Thursday. However, medical staff later confirmed that the discharge would take place on Friday instead.
A statement from the hospital noted, “Senior interventional cardiologist Sai Satish placed a stent in the aorta, completely sealing off the swelling (Endovascular Repair). The procedure went as planned. Rajinikanth is stable and doing well. He should be home in two days.”

Despite the initial plans for a Thursday discharge, an official statement confirming the new timeline has not yet been issued by the hospital.
This is not the first time Rajinikanth has faced health issues. In 2020, he was admitted for fluctuations in blood pressure and was advised one month of rest upon discharge. In 2021, he underwent a carotid artery revascularization procedure.
On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached out to Rajinikanth’s wife, Latha, to inquire about the actor’s health and wished him a speedy recovery. Tamil Nadu Governor R. N. Ravi and Chief Minister M. K. Stalin also extended their good wishes.
Meanwhile, Rajinikanth’s upcoming film, Vettaiyan, is scheduled for release on October 10. Directed by T. J. Gnanavel, the film marks the Tamil debut of Amitabh Bachchan. It also stars Malayalam actress Manju Warrier, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Ritika Singh, Thushara Vijayan, and Abhirami.
