Queen of Tears dethrones Reply 1988 to become 3rd highest-rated in tvN history; #1 on Netflix(tvN)
“Queen of Tears,” featuring Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won, has shattered records to become one of TVN’s highest-rated K-dramas. The romantic comedy has exceeded expectations, captivating not only domestic audiences but also viewers worldwide. With its powerful return on April 7, the series reached its peak ratings, outshining all other shows of the day.
While “Reply 1988,” the beloved 2015 K-drama starring Hyeri, Ryu Jun Yeol, and Park Bo Gum, was a fan favorite, “Queen of Tears” has now taken the lead. Surpassing “Reply 1988,” it claims the third-highest ratings of any tvN drama, trailing only behind blockbuster hits “Crash Landing on You” and “Goblin,” both of which surpassed the coveted 20 percent benchmark.
“Queen of Tears” has achieved the status of being the highest-rated program on Sundays. The show depicts the journey of a married couple navigating burnout and divorce before rediscovering their love amid challenges. According to Nielsen Korea, the latest episode aired on April 8 garnered an impressive nationwide average rating of 19.0 percent.
Securing the top spot in Netflix’s non-English segment, “Queen of Tears” has garnered a whopping 4.3 million views this week, emerging as the most-watched show in its category. Congratulations on the remarkable achievement!
On a different note, “Beauty and Mr. Romantic,” a new romantic drama on KBS 2TV, witnessed a slight decline in viewership in its recent episode. Despite previously holding the top spot during weekends, it received an average nationwide rating of 18.0% for the night.
TVN’s “Hide” wrapped up its first half on a high note, achieving a higher-than-usual average rating of 5.0% for its sixth episode, further solidifying its position among viewers.
