Oscars 2024: Nearly-Naked John Cena Steals the Show, Wins the Internet, and Would’ve Taken Best Presenter Award!

At the 96th Academy Awards, the audience was in for a surprise when actor-wrestler John Cena made a memorable entrance onto the stage, turning the spotlight onto the significance of costumes in cinema in a rather unconventional way — by forgoing one himself. As he joined host Jimmy Kimmel to present the award for Best Costume Design, Cena’s daring move sparked cheers and laughter from the audience, including reactions from stars like Margot Robbie.

The amusing moment unfolded when Kimmel quipped to the audience, “Can you imagine if a nude man ran across the stage today? Wouldn’t that be crazy?” just as Cena appeared, partially unclothed, from the corner of the stage. However, Kimmel swiftly backed off from the idea, expressing discomfort with the notion of a streaker at such an elegant event. Cena, quick-witted as ever, retorted, “The male body is not a joke,” holding an oversized envelope strategically to maintain modesty, while emphasizing the importance of costumes in film, much to the delight of the audience.

Cena’s bold move didn’t just captivate the Oscars attendees; it also sent waves across the internet, with X (formerly known as Twitter) buzzing with tweets praising Cena’s fearless commitment to the moment. One fan commended Cena’s dedication with the hashtag #Oscars, while another shared a clip of Margot Robbie’s infectious laughter in response to Cena’s entrance, with a caption that read, “Margot Robbie Reacting To A Naked John Cena Lmaoooooo.”

Amidst Cena’s memorable antics, the night also celebrated the achievements of the film industry’s finest, with Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. clinching Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor respectively. Emma Stone secured the Best Actress award for her performance in Poor Things, while Da’Vine Joy Randolph was honored as Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Holdovers.
