According to the writer-director, a number of well-known producers had turned down offers to finance the movie. He claimed, “I visited nearly nine production companies, and the bulk of them rejected the script due to its audacity. Even someone stated, “It’s crass and gross.” I was surprised by it.

Regarding the same, Rai continued, “I was unsure of how we would produce this movie. Fortunately, someone referred me to Rajesh Behl, Vipul Shah, and Ashwin Varde. They brought me to Akshay Kumar, who told me that the topic was both fascinating and crucial. I think things get easier if you work with a producer like Akshay Kumar.

In OMG 2, Amit Rai discusses using Yami Gautam as a lawyer

Amit added that they wanted to include the character of a lawyer in the sequel, preferably a female actor for the role in the courtroom scenes, as the original movie, headed by Paresh Rawal and Akshay Kumar, was mostly focused on the male characters. Yami Gautam plays Kamini Maheshwari, an advocate, in OMG 2.

The director remarked, “We thought if we could make something around ladies… because the first part was male-dominated. That’s why we chose to work with Yami for OMG 2. Then, we considered using a female attorney for the follow-up.
