Malayalam Superstar Mohanlal To Receive Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2023

On Saturday, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting announced that it will honour Malayalam cinema superstar Mohanlal with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2023.

Taking to X, the Ministry posted, “On the recommendation of the Dadasaheb Phalke Award Selection Committee, the Government of India is pleased to announce that Shri Mohanlal will be conferred the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2023. Mohanlal’s remarkable cinematic journey inspires generations!”

“The legendary actor, director, and producer is being honoured for his iconic contribution to Indian Cinema. His unmatched talent, versatility, and relentless hard work have set a golden standard in Indian film history. The award will be presented at the 71st National Film Awards ceremony on Sept 23, 2025,” the post further added.

Mohanlal: Two-Time National Award Winner

Mohanlal, popularly known as ‘Lalettan’, has already won the National Film Award for Best Actor twice. The superstar has, however, entertained audiences for over four and a half decades with his remarkable performances.

The versatile actor has worked in more than 350 films across Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Hindi cinema. Every role he has played has left a lasting impression on audiences, establishing him as one of the most respected and beloved actors in Indian cinema.

Last year, Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty received the Dadasaheb Phalke Lifetime Achievement Award 2022. This highlighted the tradition of recognising exceptional contributions to Indian cinema.
