Mahesh Babu Unveils First Look As Rudhra From SS Rajamouli’s ‘Varanasi’

Mahesh Babu gave his fans a special birthday surprise with the release of the first look of Rudhra from ‘Varanasi’.

The newly unveiled images present the actor in two contrasting settings.

One photograph shows him seated casually on a bamboo raft, while another captures him standing in the middle of an expansive wilderness.

Mahesh Babu posted the pictures online and described Rudhra as a character who possesses several sides beyond his fierce personality.

SS Rajamouli joined the birthday celebrations by sharing a personal message about the actor and his role in the film.

The filmmaker portrayed Rudhra as an individual carrying a destiny far greater than himself. He explained that the character combines humour, emotional vulnerability and strength, with Mahesh Babu bringing these contrasting traits together.

Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran, who share the screen with Mahesh Babu in ‘Varanasi’, also marked his birthday with warm wishes.  Their message referred to the film’s time-travel narrative and expressed excitement about the journey ahead.

The production of ‘Varanasi’ has reportedly crossed the 80 per cent completion mark.

The team has already filmed several key action sequences and is now working on the remaining portions in Hyderabad.

V Vijayendra Prasad developed the story with SS Kanchi, while KL Narayana and SS Karthikeya are backing the project as producers under Sri Durga Arts and Showing Business.

The film centres on Rudhra, portrayed by Mahesh Babu, against the backdrop of a major threat to Varanasi involving an approaching asteroid.

With Rajamouli at the helm and an international production scale, ‘Varanasi’ has emerged as one of the most closely watched upcoming Indian films.
