Madhavan’s Biopic ‘GDN’ Wraps Up Shooting, First Look Released

Filming of the highly anticipated biopic ‘GDN’, directed by Krishnakumar Ramakumar, has officially wrapped up, its makers confirmed on Monday.

Producer Vijay Moolan, whose production house is backing the project, shared the announcement on Instagram along with pictures from the wrap-up party held in Dubai, captioning it, “And… it’s a wrap for #GDN. WrapUpParty!”

Recently, Madhavan had posted a heartfelt birthday wish for producer Vijay Moolan, expressing his gratitude and admiration.

The actor wrote on social media, “Wish you the HAPPIEST BIRTHDAY EVERRRR, my dear brother. I’ve always been so grateful to have you in my life, but with every passing year, your importance and influence in my life has been greater than ever. I have seldom met anybody who has so much trust in my abilities ..you see in me more than I can see in myself and forget I’m so grateful. God bless you and I pray that our closeness and adventurous journey continues forever. Love you, my man.”

The film is a biographical drama based on the life of Gopalaswamy Doraiswamy Naidu, famously known as G D Naidu, a self-taught engineer, inventor, and industrialist from Coimbatore.

Naidu developed India’s first indigenous electric motor and several other innovations, including petrol engines, ticket machines, and agricultural machinery. These achievements earned him the title of the ‘Edison of India’.

First Look and Teaser

In October, the makers unveiled the first look teaser, showing Madhavan fully transformed into G D Naidu.

The clip depicted him at work in his workshop, initially behind a welding shield. It then revealed his aged, bold avatar with spectacles, capturing Naidu’s pioneering spirit and determination.

Madhavan shared the teaser on social media, “The spirit of G D NAIDU is now officially unveiled. A story of unmatched vision, towering ambition, and unwavering resolve. We proudly present the First Look Teaser of GDN (sic).”

Krishnakumar Ramakumar is directing the film, and Varghese Moolan Pictures and Tricolour Films are producing it in collaboration.

The ensemble cast includes Priyamani, Jayaram, and Yogi Babu in key roles, alongside other supporting actors, promising a rich portrayal of Naidu’s life and achievements.

With the shooting completed, the film now moves into post-production, generating excitement among fans and the scientific community alike.

‘GDN’ is expected to not only celebrate India’s industrial heritage but also inspire audiences with the story of a visionary who transformed technology and industry in the country.

The wrap-up of filming marks a significant step forward for the project, signalling that the cinematic journey of one of India’s greatest innovators is ready to reach the big screen.
