Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman has praised young musical sensation Lydian Nadhaswaram for reaching a significant milestone with his debut symphony, ‘New Beginnings’.
AR Rahman described the accomplishment as an inspiring achievement and voiced confidence that the young composer would continue to scale greater heights.
In a special video message, AR Rahman conveyed the KMMC community’s delight at Lydian’s success. He emphasised that creating and recording a symphony with a globally acclaimed orchestra demanded exceptional commitment, artistic ability, resilience, and focus.
AR Rahman also extended his blessings and encouraged Lydian to pursue even bigger goals in the future.
Responding to the message on social media, Lydian thanked AR Rahman for his encouragement and kind words. He expressed gratitude for the veteran composer’s support and blessings on this important occasion.
Lydian recently achieved a historic distinction by becoming the youngest Indian and Asian composer to create and record an original symphony. His inaugural symphonic composition is titled ‘New Beginnings’.
The renowned London Symphony Orchestra performed and recorded the work. Celebrated conductor Matt Dunkley directed the performance.
While unveiling the project, Lydian described the work as a heartfelt musical offering. He said he felt humbled by the recognition and regarded the achievement as an important moment in his artistic journey.
The official premiere and audio launch of ‘New Beginnings’ will, however, take place on 21 June, marking World Music Day.
Organisers will host the event at The Music Academy in Chennai. The symphony will also become available across major music streaming services on the same day.
Lydian also noted that the event would feature a modest ticket price. He said the decision was a gesture of respect towards the musicians, technicians, patrons and collaborators who contributed to the project.
Lydian also acknowledged the support of project producer Andrew T Mackay and Bohemia Junction Ltd. He described ‘New Beginnings’ as the first step in a much larger musical journey.
