As his directorial debut, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, marked its 27th anniversary on Thursday, filmmaker Karan Johar looked back fondly on the film that launched his journey as a director in 1998.
Taking to Instagram, Johar shared a series of behind-the-scenes photographs from the film’s sets, featuring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Rani Mukerji, Farah Khan, Archana Puran Singh, and Anupam Kher.
The nostalgic post was set to the film’s beloved track Tum Paas Aaye.
Reflecting on the milestone, Johar captioned the post, “27 years!!! Some beautiful and candid memories from our set of #KuchKuchHotaHai…a set filled with love, too much banter and happiness. Thank you to everyone for the love you continue to give this film…it means everything to me!”
Yash Johar produced Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, a romantic comedy-drama told across two timelines. It follows the love triangle between college friends Rahul, Anjali, and Tina. Years later, Rahul’s daughter makes a heartfelt attempt to reunite her father with his old friend.

The film also earned Karan Johar the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.
Following his debut, Johar went on to direct celebrated blockbusters such as Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna, My Name Is Khan, Student of the Year, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.
