IIFA 2025 To Honor 50 Years Of ‘Sholay’ With Special Screening At Raj Mandir

The 25th edition of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards will likely take audiences on a nostalgic journey with a tribute to Ramesh Sippy’s classic film ‘Sholay’.

Celebrating the film’s 50th anniversary, IIFA will host a special screening at Jaipur’s historic Raj Mandir Cinema, a venue known for its deep connection to Indian cinema.

Expressing his excitement, IIFA Co-Founder Andre Timmins stated, “IIFA 2025 is not just a celebration–it’s a journey through time, honouring 50 years of Sholay at Jaipur’s iconic Raj Mandir. As we mark IIFA’s Silver Jubilee, we are celebrating more than milestones; we are celebrating legends, memories, and the magic of cinema that has touched hearts for generations. Sholay is more than a film – it’s an emotion, a timeless masterpiece that continues to inspire storytellers and audiences alike. And what better place to honour its legacy than Raj Mandir, a theatre that has been a historical sanctuary for movie lovers for five decades.”

“This tribute is our way of bringing together the soul of Indian cinema with the grandeur of an architectural marvel, creating a moment that will be cherished forever. It’s a historic celebration of cinema and culture. IIFA 2025 promises to be an unforgettable homage to the power of storytelling, uniting film lovers in a celebration of the magic that makes Indian cinema so special,” he further emphasized.

Sholay: A Timeless Revenge Saga

‘Sholay’ follows the story of Thakur Baldev Singh (Sanjeev Kumar), a retired police officer seeking revenge against the ruthless bandit Gabbar Singh (Amjad Khan).

He enlists two small-time criminals, Jai (Amitabh Bachchan) and Veeru (Dharmendra), to bring Gabbar to justice.

The film’s gripping narrative, along with its legendary performances, cemented its place as one of Indian cinema’s greatest masterpieces.

The film also starred Jaya Bachchan, Hema Malini, and a stellar ensemble cast, making it an enduring favorite among movie lovers.

IIFA 2025 will likely take place in Jaipur from 8 March to 9 March, promising an unforgettable tribute to the timeless magic of Indian cinema.
